Out There

Recently I had the opportunity to get 'Out There' and connect with Brides-to-Be at a local Bridal Show.
It is always so great to meet a myriad of newly engaged ladies, their fiances, bridesmaids and families.  I so love the excitement, and seeing the smiles of anticipation-it's nothing short of fabulous!  Did I mention I absolutely love weddings!!  I always cry when David Tutera ( my FAV-love love love) does the big 'reveal'-I cry even when the Bride doesn't-I'm a complete sap.
So I went with the color of the year-tangerine-which just so happens to be a color I can't live without-love it!  So here are a few photos to share with you.  Cheers!  And happy engagement!

Boutonnieres

I love the Guys flowers-little gems of color and personality.  Not all guys share my sentiments.  Many shy away from even thinking or discussing their fashion accessory.  We tend to breed a manly man in these here parts, but trust me guys, proximity to flowers in not emasculating.  In fact, it is quite sexy.
Boutonnieres date back to the 16th century where they were originally donned to ward off bad luck or evil.  Through the 19th and 20th centuries, they became a fashionable accessory as a splash of color for a sober suit and became the mark of a well dressed man.  It was a mark of elegance and masculinity-note Cary Grant and Clark Gable-the ladies loved these guys!
So gentlemen, embrace the trading in of the Carharts for a dapper fashion statement, and watch the ladies swoon!
I like to get creative with the boutonnieres-typically worn by the gentleman of honor-and in weddings, the Groomsmen, Fathers, Grandfathers and any other gentlemen worthy of honors.  I like to incorporate the natural elements and greenery that we are blessed with here in our beautiful State.  As part of my service, I always pin on all boutonnieres to make sure they will stay and look great throughout the evening.

Mmmmmm.....Cake!

Lots of companies talk about Service, but actions speak louder than words.
Oftentimes at events, it is difficult to coordinate vendors to be there at the same time.  During the initial consultation with a Bride, I ask who the other vendors are that she, or they, have chosen thus far.  I try my best to coordinate with those that I will be working alongside, so set up can go off much more fluently.
I often decorate the cakes, which I love to do.  I always take cues from the Bride, make suggestions, and communicate through pictures-which truly are worth a thousand words.
Here are a few from last season-Cheers!

Winter Whites

Although it may be considered by some a but unexciting, white is one of my favorite colors.
I love an all white room...and white woodwork.  It makes me feel clean, calm and centered.
White makes sense as a design backdrop, or as an accent to make other colors pop.  I love a white table upon which other accent colors showcase their element.
White is the color of Winter-there is nothing like a beautiful blanket of bright white snow...like mother earth spreading a white blanket upon which to rest and ponder.
Here are a few Winter Whites from the past year to ponder and enjoy.  What do you like about White?

Pink

I've had pink on the mind lately.  Oddly enough, I am not a 'pink person' per se.  I have recently had the urge to dye a pink swath thru my hair-really quite strange.
I guess it's because Pink dominates my Summers.  Pink is always in style, especially in the Wedding world, and really is a fabulous accent to just about any other color-except canary yellow-but, that's just my opinion.
My friend Liza had these cool pink pumps in High School which I always thought would be fantastic to have-I bought a pair many years later, but never wore them.  Funny how things work.
I must be missing the colors of Summer-it is a bit drab here in New England today-and chilly!
So I thought I would share with you some shades of this past Summer-pink out!

Transitions

Welcome to 'The Blog!'  As many of us in business for ourselves have surely thought about Blogging...The question lingered for quite some time...to blog or not to blog.  I mean really, does anyone really care...and the answer came-of course people care.  What a sad world we would conduct as business owners if nobody cared.
So for those of you who haven't given much thought to what Floral Design, Catering and Event Coordination consists of-I do indeed think many will find it interesting-I certainly do, and perhaps if inspiration is contagious, all the better.
A little beauty shared among friends is what makes life just a little sweeter.
The Transition from Fall to Winter always marches forward a bit less ceremoniously for us New Englanders than does the Transition from Summer to Fall.  Thus I will begin by reflection back on the more colorful time of our recent past.
Here are a few photos from a recent wedding that combined two of my favorite things:  The mountains and a glorious celebration of life;  Thanks Jennifer and Jarod for allowing me to take part in your Union.
